Laity Sunday, 10/15/17
Laity Sunday is the Sunday that 'we, the people" are in charge of the Service.  Our Pastor is on vacation in the mountains getting a well-deserved rest.  Last Sunday, we had a wonderful service in spite of hardships (like losing our Internet connection!).  The message was given by Lori Durbin, scriptures read by Robert Thompson, Ron Metz did a great job of keeping us on schedule, Charlotte Metz did the prayer, Joyful Noise, the Children's Choir, Nancy Hicks, Paige Cook, and Barbara Bateman provided music.  Kristen Moores did the Children's Moment, and John Watt did the call to worship and opening prayer.  Here are some pictures:

AT THE SCENIC HIGHWAY 39 MILE YARD SALE. NOV 4TH, 2017  7:00 AM TO 2:00 PM

Now is the time to clean  out those closets and donate the things you no longer need to the Church.  We will need lots of stuff if we are going to beat last years take!!! (NO CLOTHING OR SHOES, PLEASE)  Bring Donations to the garage in the Church Office Building, call Pat Chernishkin 843-415-6218 if you need help delivering the items.  We will do what we can to help.
We are doing something a little different this year.  We will be renting spaces for vendors to come in and sell their wares out in front of the Church (under the trees).  If you are an artist, a crafter, or just have stuff you want to sell, you can rent a table for $10.00. Or if you have a friend that would like to take advantage of the crowds drawn by the 39 mile Sale, that's ok too. We will be open at 7:00 am for set up.   Call Pat Chernishkin 843-415-6218, or catch her at Church.  Reservations can be made, but payment must be made at time of reservation. You can also reserve a table by going online at: http//bit.ly/39mshs.  We are an official site of the Yard Sale this year, meaning that we benefit from all the advertising done on social media, in newspapers, and on their website.  We also will appear on the yard sale map.

ABOUT THE SCENIC HIGHWAY

39-Mile Scenic Highway Yard Sale is held each November, and sellers and buyers alike have a special opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Ridge Scenic Highway Scenic corridor.

The Ridge Scenic Highway, located in Polk County, extends 38.7-miles along the Lake Wales Ridge, from its intersection with US 27 south of Frostproof to its intersection with US 17/92 in Haines City. The scenic highway corridor travels through the historic communities of Frostproof, Hillcrest Heights, Babson Park, the Village of Highland Park, Lake Wales, Lake of the Hills, Dundee, Lake Hamilton and Haines City.

This scenic corridor introduces travelers to historic communities and rural agricultural Central Florida. SR 17, or Scenic Highway as it is locally known, serves the historic centers of these communities and provides access to cultural facilities and historic sites that help promote and preserve the local culture. Winding along the Lake Wales Ridge, SR 17 provides scenic vistas and access to lakes, natural areas, citrus agricultural fields and unique Florida attractions.

DON'T FORGET MANNA CAFE: THE 4TH FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH at 5:00 pm
Manna Cafe is an opportunity to meet out wonderful Church family.  And we are truly a family.  On the 4th Friday of every month volunteers cook a meal, come in to serve the meal, and clean up afterwards.  We welcome anyone who is hungry to come and join us.   This is not a recruiting event.  It is simply our chance to get to know you, and to help if you need it.   See all the smiling faces below?  That's just some of the volunteers who help to make our Manna Meals a success.  You can see that we are having fun!  Join us.  Bring the family or a friend.  The more the merrier!
